Introducing Cerebiome®

Cerebiome® : Pioneering and most documented psychobiotic

Cerebiome® (previously known as Probio’Stick®) is an innovative and unique psychobiotic formulation combining 2 proprietary strains, Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell®-52 and Bifidobacterium longum Rosell®-175, developed by the Rosell® Institute for Microbiome and Probiotics by Lallemand.

Cerebiome® is the most documented psychobiotic on the Microbiota-Gut-Brain axis in the world as Lallemand has always been a pioneer in this major field of study.

Proven health benefits of Cerebiome®

Cerebiome® health effects are supported by 9 clinical and 11 preclinical studies showing its beneficial impact on bidirectional communication between the gut and the brain through different pathways. Several mechanistic animal studies indicate the positive effects of the probiotic formula on behavioral models of anxiety and depression. Based on the growing knowledge of the gut-brain axis and on the documentation on the probiotic strains Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell®-52 and Bifidobacterium longum Rosell®-175, Cerebiome® positively influences the microbiome-gut-brain axis through various mechanisms, leading to mental well-being improvement. Clinical studies have shown its benefits in reducing occasional stress and improvement of related conditions, such as gut comfort, sleep quality but also skin health.

Breakthrough studies to cope with everyday life stress and improve side effects related to stress

Such consistency of results is rare in this innovative field and subsequently much has been learned about the Brain-Gut axis by investigating the same probiotic formula through various research studies in different population groups and dosages.

Two breakthrough clinical studies back Cerebiome®. It was the first psychobiotic formula to scientifically demonstrate an improvement of gastrointestinal symptoms related to stress in healthy people, such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort, back in 2008.

A second pioneering study published in 2010, showed Cerebiome® could help moderate general feelings of stress and anxiety, promoting a healthy mood balance for healthy active people experiencing mild to moderate stress caused by a life event [Messaoudi 2010]. In this randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study, psychological signs of occasional stress were evaluated using a range of validated psychological assessment scales. One month’s daily intake of Cerebiome® significantly improved general signs and the subject’s ability to cope with everyday life stress. Moreover, those results were correlated with a biomarker for stress; a decrease in urinary free cortisol levels. Cerebiome® provided digestive comfort and the general feeling of wellbeing among all participants subject to low to mild stress levels, suggesting the value of prophylactic intake.

Now, supported by recent groundbreaking studies, Cerebiome® has shown benefits in holistic well-being with improvement in physiological parameters. Among the last published studies, 2 clinical studies [Wiacek 2024 & Kassem 2025] and one preclinical study [Murack 2024] demonstrated benefits on sleep. Particularly, the last one demonstrated new mechanistic findings on the modulation of sleep architecture and improvement in depressive-like behaviors in adolescent mice in sleep-disrupted conditions. Addition to that, the innovative proof-of-concept study [Kassem 2025], showed improvement on circadian rhythm, perceived stress, but also on skin health, introducing the in and out well-being concept.

Cerebiome® continues to be the most documented psychobiotic in the world with more than a decade of evidence after its first proven effects on the gut-brain axis.
